Rahul, has been a practicing advocate for more than three decades. He has gained extensive experience and expertise in litigation, dispute resolution and legal advisory. In these years of practice, he has handled matters across a broad spectrum of laws including constitutional law, banking laws, general trade and commercial laws, civil disputes, criminal law, energy laws, employment laws, intellectual property laws, mining laws, internationaland domestic arbitrations, public interest law, right to information and service law. He has also dealt with matters involving PSU’s, Government of India, autonomous bodies etc., and matters relating to education institutions/Universities. He has independently handled and argued cases before various courts in India and has excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
He started his practice in the chamber of a distinguished senior trial lawyer and has also worked with top tier law firms in India heading their commercial litigation teams, namely, Khaitan & Co, Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan and Kochhar & Co. He advises and represents various multinational and domestic clients on the diverse matters in corporate, insolvency, general trade & commercial laws. He has extensive experience and expertise in criminal law matters with significant focus on corporate white- collar crimes. He has also built strong capabilities in central excise law, consumer law, environment law, construction and infrastructure contracts. His expertise in domestic & international arbitration has also earned him the credential of representing various multinational clients at various ad hoc and institutional arbitrations.
He has handled complex arbitrations before ad hoc and institutional arbitral tribunals, including thoseseated abroad under the institutional rules of London Court of International Arbitration, SingaporeInternational Arbitration Centre and ICC, Paris. He has experience on a vast array of issues includingexercise of call and put options, fiduciary duties of directors, oppression & mismanagement, mode andmanner of effecting partition of immovable property, apart from complex issues involved in infrastructure& engineering contracts, to name a few.
He has worked extensively in electricity sector for generators, distribution licensees & open access users.He has been regularly appearing in cases before Supreme Court of India, various state High Courts,Appellate Tribunal for Electricity and various State Electricity Regulatory Commissions. He has alsosuccessfully advised and appeared for clients embedded in the natural resource industry and morespecifically coal, limestone and bauxite mining industry in the states of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh,Meghalaya, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
